Why do we carve?

Apr 27, 2016

People keep asking us this question all the time.¬† At Noi, we believe in human creative skill and the art of carving. We combine them with our love of food to show our guests we care about them. The Thai Art of Fruit and Vegetable Carving is a valuable heritage of Thailand and one of its oldest art forms. It is a national heritage that has been passed from generation to generation for hundreds of years. There is a long tradition of fruit carving in Thailand, especially in the preparation of food for the Royal Family. The purpose of carving is to make food more attractive, more appetizing, and also easier to eat. Nowadays, not so many Thai restaurants do the carving, because it takes long time to do and takes a lot more work especially when technology and social media are involved. No matter how the world changes around us, and no matter how fast, we still keep traditional Thai culture alive on Noi’s dishes.
